How far is Bexley Park from Arncliffe?
Bexley Park is about 4 km from Arncliffe, a short drive along Princes Highway and up Forest Road. It's the same route the old steam tram took: from 1909 to 1927 it ran from Arncliffe station along Wollongong, Forest and Stoney Creek Roads to Bexley Park.

Bexley is one of the suburbs I visit most. My regular area for home and school visits covers places within 30 km of Arncliffe, and travel inside it is included in the session rate. Bexley North, Kingsgrove, Rockdale and Carlton are close by too. If you are further out, telehealth sessions work Australia-wide.
Where do sessions happen near Bexley Park?
At home. I bring everything: assessment tools, games, books and therapy materials. A kitchen table or a quiet room with the TV off is all we need. For children, a parent or carer joins in, so you learn the strategies as we go and can keep using them between sessions. Read more about mobile speech therapy at home.
At school or preschool. Several schools sit a short walk from the park, including St Gabriel's Catholic Primary School and Bexley Public School on Forest Road. School sessions start with a conversation with the principal or learning support coordinator to check that outside speech pathology is allowed. Then I work alongside your child's teachers so the goals carry across the school day.

By video. Telehealth suits older children, teenagers and adults, and families with busy weeks. The sessions follow the same plan as a home visit.
Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes. Younger children do best with 45 minutes.
Can my child be assessed in English and Mandarin?
Yes. I assess and treat in English and Mandarin, and about a third of the families I work with speak both at home. Read more about bilingual speech therapy in English and Mandarin.
In most Bexley homes, a language other than English is spoken. At the 2021 Census, 63.6% of Bexley households used a language other than English at home, against 29.5% across NSW. The most common were Arabic (13.2% of residents), Greek (7.1%), Macedonian (6.3%), Mandarin (6.0%) and Cantonese (5.1%).
A child learning two languages can look delayed when they are tested in only one of them. Speech Pathology Australia explains that a true communication disorder shows up in all of a child's languages, and that dropping the home language does not fix it. Testing in both languages shows what your child can really do, so a bilingual child gets a fair result.
